New postcard stamp

Our internet service was out for about a week.  Apparently, someone down the street was doing some work in his yard and cut the cable.  About four homes on our side was affected and it took them a week to figure out what had happened.  I had been going through some serious blog withdrawals!  lol!  I've been trying to catch up, but no luck... I'm just going to go on from here...

I got to do a little something last night.  The house was quiet and I was alone... heaven!  ; )  Not alone at home, but alone in my art room... everyone else asleep...   I worked on a postcard stamp:

I know it's not my usual style, but I was going with the mood... I had a nice cup of tea, though nothing fancy... just a Lipton teabag (decaf) in a mug.  I had a block of rubber that I cut "imperfectly" (not that I am by any means perfect with my cutting!), and I just started playing.

I tried using a gouge at first, but I just don't like it!  I only use a gouge to clean up large areas.  I had to go back to my Ex-acto knife and clean up the lettering, then I carved the rest.  I did use the gouge for the lines in the table...

I managed to stamp 70 cards, which I will be sending out these next few days.  20 for my carving group, and 50 for family and friends.

Had a bit of family drama and ended up talking on the phone for hours!  Everyone lives on the other side of the country, so naturally they call me to tell me their side of the story... lol!  I love my family!

I've been working in my journal, but no pics yet.  I've also been painting!  Well, actually that's not true.  I started a painting about a week or so ago.  I've only had one session with it.  Here's a peek:

  2. Lotus! Is your painting a mandala of a sort? Looks wonderful!
And your stamps are so keenly cut. Wish I was as well practiced.
