The Journey of Journals has ended...

At least for me. ; )

I joined a project called Journey of Journals 2010.  I created my journal and sent it on it's way to visit six other artists.  They, in turn, sent their journals out and we each had the opportunity to do some art (two spreads) with the journal's specific theme as our inspiration.  After over a year, my journal has finally returned home!

My theme was "How do you EXPRESS yourself?"
When Jean, the final artist mailed out my journal, she was in a teasing mood.
Already, I was kept in suspense!
JOJ surprise!
Here's my cover:

I used chipboard for the covers, wrapped in scrapbook paper, then stenciled, stamped and painted.  Inside, I did one page, to explain my theme and to give the artists a full spread to work on.

Paula was the first artist and all the consecutive journals I received went to her as I finished.

Paint and collage was her focus.  I like her choice of colors.
Next was Cynthia.

She did a cutout, as well as painting and a clay face that was hand painted.
Nita used collage, writing, paint and pencil shavings!

She also did some fingerpainting!
Sue used pastels and poetry:

And heavy collage with recyclables:

Nancy did a popup!

As well as a pastel:

And a bit of sewing (with a couple of recipes to share!):

Finally, Jean completed her spreads and returned my journal safe and sound!

Although this project took longer than expected, I am soooo pleased with the results!  It was challenging at many points, but so rewarding to actually finish and send the journal on.  There are still a couple of journals traveling, but they're nearly ready for home too.  I look forward to seeing more completed journals!

I have a few pages left, that I hope to fill in the future.
